Welcome
Sue Van Praagh, started experimenting with truffle flavours at home in her kitchen. Her experimentation quickly turned into an obsession. What started as a hobby, while hoping to supplement her income, quickly became a benchmark on the Isle of Wight as word got around for good quality chocolate confection, Flap Jacks, Chocolate Brownies and other sweet treats.
Originally Sue's confections were then sold under the label "Supreme Truffles" and Sue's first major client being The Seaview Hotel, at Seaview. As the business started to grow Sue realised that a new name could enhance the company's profile, so with the help of her daughters a new name was chosen - "Three IOW Chocolatiers", which then incorporated Supreme Truffles. But Sue had always wanted a shop of her own, where she could both sell her chocolates and cakes while patrons enjoy a sweet treat enhanced with quality coffees and chocolate drinks.
Then by chance a Victorian listed building on Ryde Esplanade, formally Nichollson's Chemists, became available. Sue loved the idea of having a Chocolate Chemist, where her experimentation could carry on. So a new business name was born 'Chocolate Apothecary', where Apothecary is the medieval term for a person who mixed formulas and potions.
Chocolate Apothecary hand produce all their chocolates & cakes on the Island, which has only enhanced their appeal to locals and tourists alike.
Sue works with a dedicated enthusiastic team, including a pâtisserie chef who after a long respite has returned to her profession and is working with Sue to produce traditional English and Continental cakes, biscuits and Gluten, Wheat, Dairy and Egg free products for those with special dietary needs, many of which are available for special order.
Chocolate Apothecary products are available through many outlets on the Isle of Wight.
